I tried playing with Qliphort

How do I use Qliphort?

Hi, I'm Yuduki and I'm having trouble using Qliphort.

I've been trying to figure out how to make the most of Qliphort, one of the early Master Duel decks!

Analyze Qliphort

Qliphort is strong to use like Skill Drain by searching Re-qliate with Qliphort Scout searched by Summoner's Art or Saqlifice. If you have Summoner's Art in Pendulum Zone, you can prevent Re-qliate from destroying itself. It depends on your opponent's deck, but this alone can make things difficult.

Re-qliate
EffectContinuous Trap
Card Text
If a monster is Normal or Flip Summoned, and it is a Level 4 or lower monster: Negate its effects until the end of this turn. If a monster(s) is Special Summoned, and it is a Level 5 or higher monster: Negate its effects until the end of this turn, also banish it when it leaves the field. If there is no "Qli" card on the field, except "Re-qliate", send this card to the Graveyard.

However, this one also suffers considerably. Pendulum effect common to Qliphort, you can only Special Summon "Qliphort" monsters. This effect is not nullified. This is a very heavy restriction.

"This effect cannot be nullified." This means that it cannot be nullified by Qliphort Genius or Imperial Order effects.

Then I'd like to make it a legitimate strategy to deploy Qliphort's monsters on the Pendulum axis, but the basic monsters are too weak. If you Pendulum Summon it, it will be Special Summoned in a weakened state, so it's not very useful. Abyss Actor is better in similar Pendulum theme decks, so the comparison makes me not want to use it.

Furthermore, when you Advance Summon it, it goes into the Extra Deck because it's a Pendulum card, and you can't use Domain of the True Monarchs, which is the trump card for Advance Summoning. The effect that activates on release is also weak, so you might as well just use Monarch instead of this inconvenient deck.

If you deploy two cards in the Pendulum Zone, you can only place three cards left, and one of them will be Re-qliate. If you equip Saqlifice, you will have only one card left to place. It's very tough to play around with bluffing.

The trump card, Apoqliphort, is a big eater that consumes three cards on the field, but it is easily removed by battle destruction, accepts the effects of link monsters, and doesn't come back because it is not a pendulum monster. It's a monster left behind by the times. It may have been strong in the past, but now it's too useless.

Special Summons before Qliphort

After all, there's only one possible way to win against an advanced player.

It is to Special Summon a monster before Qliphort Scout is activated and finish its deployment. I recommend the following four monsters.

Bring out Cyber Dragon Infinity

If you take out Cyber Dragon Infinity from Galaxy Soldier on your first move, search for Re-qliate with Qliphort Scout, deploy Re-qliate, and protect it with Cyber Dragon Infinity's effect, it is very strong. Since Soldier is mechanical, you may want to bring out Qliphort Genius in some cases.

Bring out ABC-Dragon Buster

Instant Fusion creates Panzer Dragon, activates Union Hangar, searches for C-Crush Wyvern, equips B-Buster Drake, and Link Summons Union Carrier or Qliphort Genius. A-Assault Core searched by Drake's Graveyard effect can be put on the field by C-Crush Wyvern's effect to create ABC-Dragon Buster from the first turn.

ABC-Dragon Buster is a good match for Skill Drain because it can use its second effect after using its first effect to make the first effect effective. If Qliphort Genius is in play, you can use the second effect to search for it by Special Summoning it at the same time, but you need to be careful not to miss the timing.

Rainbow Neos out of Neos Fusion

It has 4500 ATK and can withstand destruction only once. It also works well with Skill Drain, since you can use the effect by using Skill Drain as a cost. Qliphort can't do untargeted removal, so it's a good idea to have a monster on the field that can do untargeted removal like this.

Special Summon Deskbot 001 from Deskbot 003, etc. to create Crystron Halqifibrax, bring out Mecha Phantom Beast Auroradon, and bring out Borreload Savage Dragon

Deskbot 001 can be used in a combo with Qliphort Genius as well as Cyber Dragon Infinity. Another advantage is that since Borreload Savage Dragon is not a Machine, it can't be turned into Chimeratech Fortress Dragon.

The secret to victory is to play these monsters first, search for Re-qliate, activate it face-down, block the opponent's movement, and then deploy Qliphort.

At the end.

If I'm being honest, Qliphort is a victim of the revised rules for Pendulum Summoning, and is pretty tough to use in a Link Summoning environment.

The pure Qliphort deck is so weak that it is difficult to play against it even in free duels, so I hope it will be rescued by the introduction of new cards in the future.
